There is a lot of push back about software subscriptions these days it seems. But we should remember about past scams with promised updates for paid software that never came. Unpopular opinion: I do prefer (in this specific case) the subscription model over the paid model. The plan Adobe offers gives me a lot: multi platforms support, web services, etc. Great value for the money. Photographers, Why Are You Hating on Adobe?
