  • Wondering something this morning: if Threads was to offer “free” APIs, would developers embrace them or think again and remember about Twitter and Reddit snafu? I bet they would embrace them.

  • Threads is just another trick by cyberspace to divert my attention to being focused, creative, happy, hopeful, and more importantly to use me as another data point by scrapping my privacy. I say NO.

  • Call it whatever you like, design it whatever you want, release today, tomorrow, in a year, if there is one simple link with Meta, I’m out. Enough of this platform / Zucherburg. 🤮

  • I saved over $300 by cleaning up my custom domains Source: I saved over $300 by cleaning up my custom domains

I always found those types of cleanups so satisfying. I’m almost as satisfied when I’m reading this type of blog post. Good job!

  • Does Apple know that, with the Apple Vision Pro, they have a unique opportunity to reinvent weather apps? Imagine experiencing a thunderstorm forecast in this immersive environment. Can’t wait but I’m not holding my breath.

  • One thing that we don’t hear or read about these days is the lack of a standard way to get transaction receipts in stores, restaurants, and even online. Wouldn’t it be cool if there was an electronic standard to get these receipts by email or any other means? @Apple, are you reading this?

  • Waiting for a new release of Craft this week (v2.5.6 today?)👀. Curious to see what’s coming with it. I heard about few stability issues with Apple’s crop of new beta OSes. Those might get a fix. It might add a few tweaks here and there too. We will see. It will be hard for me to create the usual release analysis this time around (vacation time!).

  • Using Day One to document my trip in Morocco is so refreshing🥰. This app is so well designed and executed. Strangely enough, I rarely use Day One other than for peeking at past memories of my publications (automatically added through IFTTT automation with RSS feeds). I rarely add to my personal journal. That might change from now on.

  • This time of the year where I fill my iPhone with podcast episodes. Using PocketCast. Getting ready for the airport ✈️

  • Just finished configuring my WhatsApp account on my iPhone. What a weird user experience. I couldn’t get my verification code to be sent by SMS after many tries. Finally asked to be called. WhatsApp asked me if I wanted to restore data from a non-existent iCloud backup. My account is configured with my current phone number which I’m pretty sure won’t work once I’m in Morocco. I bet that changing this phone number will require me to access my SMS on my primary line, which won’t be possible because I’ll depend on an eSIM. I’m not sure what is my “WhatsApp handle” either if such a thing exists. What is I prefer to use my email address so people can find me? I should probably spend an hour googling to sort this out.

And WhatsApp is the de-facto standard in most parts of the world, except North America.

  • Testing CloudFlare Analytics, because, I can, thanks to this plugin.

  • Day One creator Paul Wayne, on Apple’s foray into journaling app:

Rather than seeing this as competition, we embrace Apple’s entry into digital journaling as a testament to its growing importance. This evolution is not just beneficial for Day One, but also for our valued users. Source: Apple’s Journal App and Day One’s Evolution

I applaud the positive attitude here. There is one thing that is missing from Day One: the capability to share a journal entry as a web page.

  • Building a CRM in ... Notion? Really?

💡I’m trying to build my own CRM with Notion for my daytime job. After a few hours today building the data model using Notion tables and relations, I concluded that I underestimated Notion for such use case. It’s impressive and very flexible. It has a lot of potential. I’m pretty … read more

  • 📺 I always keep two Apple TVs: an Apple TV HD for the main bedroom that I gave to my brother-in-law, and an A12-based Apple TV 4K was my main ATV for the living room. Today, I bought the 2022 Apple TV 4K with Ethernet. The older one is now in the bedroom, and the new one is in the living room. Not what I call exciting upgrades. Had to redo all the apps setup. 😒 But it does feel faster in a more compact package.

  • I’m Testing Day One for My Travel Journal Experiment

Date: June 9, 2023 at 5:25:24 PM EDT Weather: 18°C Mostly Cloudy Location: Montréal, QC, Canada I’ll be going to Morocco a week from now. I plan to use Day One to document my trip there. It will be the first time since I’m a Day One user. I don’t know how I could not think of this before. I’ve been … read more

  • Still working from the coffee shop. 😅 While reading a technical document, I wish I could take notes and keep bookmarks about my readings. I discovered that, as well-thoughtful my personal creative workflow can be, I’m under-equipped for my work life🤦🏻‍♂️. OneNotes from Microsoft is great but so dull at the same time. This leaves me with Notion and Craft Docs. 🙄🤔 I really have to up my game at work; I’m way too lousy. I should use lessons learned from my blogger life.

  • RSS > Reddit. That is all. Think twice before telling me that I’m wrong. Spoiler alert: contribute to your own destiny instead of other corporations’ destiny.

  • Watch Out Reddit

🤨 Because of recent Reddit behaviors towards their API consumption models, seeing Apollo go, just like that, plus similarities of behavior with Twitter, I may drop my cross posting to Reddit as a first step of protests. Then, stop manual posting (in /r/craftdocs for example). Ultimately, closing my … read more

  • Use Ghost Bookmarker to easily add links and notes to a post, straight from your browser. Links are saved as a bookmark card (with an optional note) to a draft post called “Bookmarked links.” If this post doesn’t already exist, it’s created for you. Otherwise, bookmark cards are added to the existing content. If you publish the post or change the title, Ghost Bookmarker will create a new post with the “Bookmarked links” title. One way to use this is to save links during the week, publish your curated link list, and then repeat the process as needed. Source: Ghost Bookmarker - Chrome Web Store

What a great Idea for @Manton and Micro.blog! I want this! Please! 🙏🏻

  • Reflecting on My Photo Processing Strategy

For my next trip, I will bring my Nikon D750 and my iPhone 13 Pro (of course!), and my 2018 11-inch iPad Pro. How am I going to process my images? Will I continue using Lightroom for images from my Nikon? I usually use the iPad to import my photos into the Lightroom catalogue. What about pictures on … read more
