It took way too long to record, process and publish my latest podcast episode. I must tweak my workflow ASAP. It was supposed to be a “quick and easy thing”, but it isn’t. It is unsustainable. 😑 Why is everything so hard for me.. grrr. 😒

How I Automatically Include a Blog Description in My RSS Feed

I’ve been asked a couple of times how I get this short site description to be included in every entry of my RSS feed.

I’m one of those curious who asked the question. Wondering if this could be addressed via a new plugin by @Mtt or by @manton Micro.blog base service.

This is how much forests burned so far this summer in Canada. ☹️ There are still close to a thousand fires still in action. This is freaking bad for so many reasons. First, we need forests to remove CO2. In a sense, removing trees diminishes the capacity of nature to limit climate change. We lose this capability. Second, all that burning created a lot of CO2. Third, it will take half a century to regain those lost forests.😔 It’s really hard to feel positive about our future.

Experimenting with reading my Micro.blog timeline in RSS mode with Reeder. It’s surprisingly very effective for catching up on the last 12 hours of posts. It is, in fact, more effective than reading past posts on the website.

This morning, I updated my online About page¹, taking some ideas from Brian Lovin’s website. The page was built entirely with Craft’s shared document and custom domain name². I wonder if this is something that Micro.blog should expand on and be added to the premium subscription. Cc @manton

Made some visual tweaks to the blog visuals: added tags to the list of bookmarks on the bookmarks page and made the blockquote blue instead of yellow. Eventually, this is going to be exactly how I like it.

Trying to figure out robots.txt file format using freely available robots.txt generators on the web. My goal is to exclude this blog from being crawled by YandexBot. Is this file (safe link) achieving this? Seems counterintuitive in my mind. Oh, and do you think it’s a bad idea to block Yandex from crawling? Seems to be feeding other search engines like DuckDuckGo… Thanks for your input!

Finding a well-designed, non-bulky, sturdy iPhone bike holder seems mission impossible. Searching this on Amazon is even harder, with all the paid sponsors/scammers filling all possible space. The one from Peak Design product seems great, but I will have to wait for the iPhone 15 Pro Max case to come out!

Call for comments: those with a recent MacBook with a notch, what utility are you using to make it “disappear”? TopNotch doesn’t work on the latest macOS release for me. I’m unsure if this is because it conflicts with another utility (like Bartender).

Decided to move PocketCast on my first iPhone homescreen so that I increase my podcasts listening. I under utilize this great app for which I’m a subscriber. I’m not sure it will move the needle.

Sketch, the Mac vector app used by over a million people, recently invited me to adjudicate their most recent #SketchDesignChallenge. But not wanting to miss out on the fun (even though I can’t win because I am a judge… whatever…), I still booted up the app and created a widget of my own: Widget Radio.
