At the food court. The guy beside me is listening to some cheap TV show on his cheap-no-name Android speakerphone. Can you imagine if we all did the same? Even if he were using a top-of-the-line iPhone, I would judge him. 🤦🏻♂️🙉 Humans…

Made some visual tweaks to the blog visuals: added tags to the list of bookmarks on the bookmarks page and made the blockquote blue instead of yellow. Eventually, this is going to be exactly how I like it.

Trying to figure out robots.txt file format using freely available robots.txt generators on the web. My goal is to exclude this blog from being crawled by YandexBot. Is this file (safe link) achieving this? Seems counterintuitive in my mind. Oh, and do you think it’s a bad idea to block Yandex from crawling? Seems to be feeding other search engines like DuckDuckGo… Thanks for your input!

Finding a well-designed, non-bulky, sturdy iPhone bike holder seems mission impossible. Searching this on Amazon is even harder, with all the paid sponsors/scammers filling all possible space. The one from Peak Design product seems great, but I will have to wait for the iPhone 15 Pro Max case to come out!

If US legal institutions cannot take down Trump, then this country is in a dire situation.

Say hello to hello@numericcitizen.me!. Finally decided to spend some time making my hello@numericcitizen.me work using the iCloud+ Custom Mail domain. Works great so far. Come and say hi!

Call for comments: those with a recent MacBook with a notch, what utility are you using to make it “disappear”? TopNotch doesn’t work on the latest macOS release for me. I’m unsure if this is because it conflicts with another utility (like Bartender).

Decided to move PocketCast on my first iPhone homescreen so that I increase my podcasts listening. I under utilize this great app for which I’m a subscriber. I’m not sure it will move the needle.

Sketch, the Mac vector app used by over a million people, recently invited me to adjudicate their most recent #SketchDesignChallenge. But not wanting to miss out on the fun (even though I can’t win because I am a judge… whatever…), I still booted up the app and created a widget of my own: Widget Radio. Source: Widget Radio — Basic Apple Guy
I follow Basic Apple Guy since his beginning. The quality of his work never ceases to impress me. He is so good that he was invited by the makers of Sketch! And boy did I like the iPod radio feature!

With the future demise of Vanmoof, I decided to look elsewhere for my ebike. I found it. And bought it. My first new bike in more than thirty years. It’s probably my last one, too. Today, a perfect bike day in Montreal, I ran for more than 28 km for my first test drive. 🚲🚴🏻♂️😎😅😊

I was six years old. In my early days with computers, I was exposed to some of that stuff: fast line printers, disk packs, and punch card readers.

Surprising how many Reddit posts about Notion never get an answer. It’s the vast majority in seems (3 out of 4 questions). This /r/Notion is super popular, with many subscribers (292K)! Weird.

No Friday Notes post this week. I have a few ideas but didn’t have time to expand on them and write the article. Hint: it’s about photo sharing in the age of content abundance. Oh well. 😔

Poof Vanmoof!
July 17, 2023: “VanMoof was declared bankrupt in the Netherlands on Monday by the Amsterdam District Court, following the company's pandemic-time boom”

Too bad for them. It was THE electric bike I was looking for since I heard about them. Sadly, they never expanded in North America. They don’t do business with partners. I always regarded Vanmoof as the Apple of the ebike.
