Touch down. I’m back from Las Vegas! What a ride. What a city! I’m not loving everything about this place for sure. 😐

Some Must-Needed Changes to My (Too Many) About Pages
Today, I’m removing my digital garden content. The most valuable parts were moved to my About Page, and the rest has been dropped. Both of these pages are created and maintained in Craft. I like the idea of Digital Gardens, but it’s not practical for me to maintain on top of this blog … read more

I’m going to the office by bike today. 🚴🏻♂️ With this splendid weather1, probably the last such beautiful and warm day of this fall, I’m really looking forward to this half-hour ride downtown Montreal.

We’ve been in a very long streak of warm and sunny weather, something like 10 days of sunshine. ↩︎

Early mornings are my favourite creative moments… everyone is asleep, and it is super quiet in the house. 😊👨🏻💻

Fifty-six. 56. Already. 🧁

September
This is my favourite month of the year1. It’s my birthday month2. The weather is generally absolutely amazing3. Gone are muggy and hazy days; the air is crystal clear. It’s a transition month. It is a colourful month. It’s an Apple keynote month! I am looking forward to this long week-end with my … read more

Working at the office today. Summer vacations are still ongoing hence so few people here. It’s always a reminder of the covid pandemic. This place used to be much more lively. Everything still feels different. 😒 We will never get back to pre-2020 world.

It’s funny and cool how I’m slowly but surely rebuilding my social graph with people who fled X to Mastodon and Pixelfed. I feel at home again.

Thought of the day: sometimes, what you decide not to do is as important as what you decide to do! For bloggers and writers, for me at least, writing is fundamental to my existence, publishing and sharing, a lot less. I have many unfinished pieces that probably will never be shared with the world. And that is ok.

👉🏻 Thought of the day: when people put responsibility for solving the climate crisis and the like on the governments and big companies, it’s a clever (or not so clever way) to NOT take responsibility as an individual. It’s too easy.
Governments & companies are made of and operated by people, for god sake! No willingness by the people, individually or in a government, produces the exact same result: no action. But what action can we take as an individual, you might ask? Revisit your consumption habits might eventually help. Less consumption = less need for recycling. Simple.
Meanwhile: the planet IS burning.

Feeling Helpless About Climate
Due to Canada’s forest fires and easterly winds, bad air quality is returning to my town for the next few days. With all the bad climate-related news coming up from everywhere on Earth, trying to understand what is happening is essential, so we can better adapt our lifestyle. I like to read … read more

Writing an email to a long-time friend. What a joyful experience. I like the slowness of the process. It’s like blogging. ⌨️

I wish I had a blog about my professional life. I rarely share anything work-related here. Yet, there are soooo many juicy stories to talk about in professional life in general. I won’t do it because a few people at work know about “numericcitizen”… it could be prejudicial.

I don’t know if it is because I’m getting older, but I have more and more trouble and aversion with high-velocity feeds coming from platforms like Mastodon (when following tags like #WWDC during the dub dub week). I prefer the slowness of Micro.blog’s feed or a simple articles reading session.

Mentally, my creative hobbies take as much energy as my daytime work. I find it surprising how easily I can go from one world to another and back so easily.

Where I’ve Been
To follow the trend started with Manton from Micro.blog, here’s my list of countries I visited. 🇺🇸 United States 🇲🇽 Mexico 🇨🇺 Cuba 🇩🇴 Republic Dominica 🇯🇲 Jamaica 🇦🇷 Argentina 🇧🇷 Brazil 🇺🇾 Uruguay 🇫🇷 France 🇪🇸 Spain 🇵🇹 Portugal 🇦🇹 Austria 🇨🇿 Czechia 🇳🇱 Netherland 🇬🇧 England 🇮🇸 Iceland 🇦🇪 UAE 🇮🇹 … read more

I visited my university yesterday, where I studied computer science from 1987 to 1993 (B. Sc, M. Sc.). So it’s been 30 years since my last visit there. What a strange feeling to be there after all those years. Lots of vivid memories popped up just by being there! I wish I could go back in time.

I had such a busy creative weekend, to the point where I wonder if I did too much. I mean, I didn’t see most of the weekend. It was raining most of the time, and I had those videos and articles that I wanted to move forward. On the positive side, I feel that my ideas backlog is more than ever in control.

I started writing my 2023 year summary, and I must candidly admit that I’m proud of my digital accomplishment so far. 😊 You won’t notice, but a lot is going on… you know, this iceberg 🧊 image where most of it is underwater, only to see a small portion on the surface?
