I’m in a writing lull. Not too many things worth writing about, I guess. So, I focus on photography.

This morning, I’ve been experimenting with Apple Intelligence writing tools using a beta version of Ulysses. Initially, I’m torn between my feelings. The requirement to select specific text to activate the writing tools disrupts my writing flow. On the other hand, I find Grammarly’s continuous monitoring of my writing more preferable. I suspect Apple prefers the intentional nature of this feature over feeling constantly tracked.

    Food for thought

Thought of the day for me: Apple Intelligence will take off with ChatGPT integration at the operating system level, in iOS 18.2 or later. Why? Become most people won’t see the difference and associate ChatGPT answers to Apple Intelligence / Siri1. Of course, it will depend on the way this integration is presented to the user.

    1. Something along the lines that many “ordinary people”, thinks that Apple is the one who makes all the apps in the App Store. ↩︎

Today I decided to give a serious try to Notion AI to support my study of some Microsoft Azure materials. So far, I’m liking it a lot. Basic workflow goes like this: I visit the webpage, save it to Notion using a browser extension, then upon archival of the content, I ask Notion AI for a summary that is inserted at the beginning of the page. I read it then I read the actual original content. Continue reading →

Maybe Apple will announce a new product each day through a press release with a shipping date of Oct 23th, with a culmination point with the redesigned M4 Mac mini? I think it wouldn’t be the first time they did it this way.

I visited the Apple West 14th Street Apple Store this past weekend in New York City. As usual, the store was packed with people. However, one thing caught my attention: there was no one at the Apple Vision Pro tables. Despite being at the peak of their support, those devices felt quite lonely and unappealing. How long will Apple keep those devices for sale?

Seeing people use their iPhone camera to take pictures and videos of a show and I think there is no tweak or improvement that Apple can do to the camera control to beat on-screen controls. Apple brought a gimmicky feature to the iPhone.

I can’t stand watching and listening to Musk for more than five minutes. He is such a bad speaker, really. I think he should let someone else talk for him, like one of his robots, it might be much better and bearable.

I’ve been using my M4 iPad Pro hooked to an external display all day at the office (forgot to bring my MacBook Pro!) and boy… I don’t know who’s fault but using apps like Teams and Outlook on the external display is rough. It might be Apple’s fault for not evangelizing enough the iPad in this business environment or Microsoft’s for not taking the iPad seriously enough to spend the resources on testing their shit on this configuration.

Anyway, the iPad has come a long way since 2010…
