I have been tasked to create a short presentation to my colleagues on how to take advantage of ChatGPT in day to day work. That will be a fun one to create. I love those little special projects. 😊👨🏻‍💻

🔗 Another Longtime Industrial Designer Leaves Apple - MacRumors

After Evans Hankey left, Apple eliminated the Product Design Chief role and restructured the product design team under operations chief Jeff Williams. According to Bloomberg, some of the people on the design team are unhappy with being led by an operations person instead of a designer, and cost cutting efforts have also changed the way the design team operates.

There is an apparent imbalance between the ops and design groups at Apple. I’m wary of this trend.

I’ve been granted a Microsoft Copilot license at work for testing purposes. I have a love and hate relationship with Microsoft software in general. This will probably extend to cover Copilot as well. I shall not be deceived by this video. I will see.

Apparently, in Ghost, you cannot filter past published posts other than by “Newest First”, “Oldest First” or “Recently Updated”. What if I want to list of articles from 2019? 🤔

Update #1: Apparently, you need to go through Ghost Content APIs for this.

🔗 Rumor: iOS 18 could borrow some visionOS design elements

Apple’s head of software engineering, Craig Federighi, told employees last year that the iOS 18—codenamed Crystal—will have ambitious changes all around

When device’s design is mature and only sees incremental changes, bigger changes can come in software.

Since we cannot use an iCloud+ email alias for sending mail in HEY Mail, I depend on free Spark mail client for that, the last version that came out before switching to a subscription. Not a bad solution but annoying nonetheless.

Funny how help.micro.blog looks like a community in itself. I think it’s cool.

  • From an Idea to Blips

As I wrote earlier today, I’ve been wondering about a possible use case for Scribbles1. It took me about 5 minutes to get my idea, and it is called Blips, Numeric Citizen Blips, to be more precise2. Blips will enable me to share… short blips of my digital life. I should be fun, noisy at times. But not too much. Enjoy. Or not. 🙃

    1. Straightforward blogging service that is absolutely a joy to use. Nothing fancy, but mighty. ↩︎

    2. Blips sound digital; it’s a concept perfectly fitting the “Numeric Citizen” branding. ↩︎

While I’m still waiting my invite for Scribbles (tick tock tick tock @vincent 😬), I’m thinking of a possible use case. And I think I might be on the verge of finding one. My digital presence goes like this: Space ➡️ Blog ➡️ (…something small, tiny blips…) Blips. More to come soon.

☝🏻 Thought of the day: collaborative software or services enabling better collaboration within a team is overrated or overestimated. If you are a loner at work, you’ll stay a loner, with or without a collab suite. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have too many ways to create link posts on Micro.blog: a bookmarklet, Apple’s Shortcuts, using Ulysses, etc. I wish I could standardize on one approach working on all my Apple devices1. 🫤

    1. Maybe it should be part of the recently introduced Save Bookmark browser plugin? ↩︎

🔗 Is Vision Pro a glimpse into the future of computing?

The question is whether future iterations of a head-worn device will at some point replace Macs and PCs as our primary computing devices.

I don’t see that happening in the next five to ten years.

Sometimes, I have an idea for what would be a short blog post, and start writing it, thinking I’ll share it here on Micro.blog. As I’m writing my article, it grows and grows and grows to a point where I need to reconsider where I’m going to share the article. When I cross the 500 words mark1, this is where it makes more sense to post on my main website which is dedicated to long and less in-the-moment thoughts. I’m working on a long one about micro.blog. Stay tuned.

I discovered the “Copy URL as Quote” in Arc Browser, this morning. I love this feature. I get a nice preview in iMessage when sending the link, but what about here in Micro.blog or on Mastodon? Here is an example.

Update #1: it does partially render on Mastodon using the Ivory client. But the content seems missing.

Update #2: The cross-posted post from Micro.blog lacks the preview, but the native post as Micro.blog exposes it, does contain the full previous.

Since getting a MacBook a few years ago, my iPad usage drastically dropped, to a point where sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever upgrade my aging 2018 11-inch iPad Pro. Yesterday, I spent the whole evening on it for reading and watching YouTube. It was a reminder that I still the love the iPad form factor and I couldn’t live without one.

A satisfying exercise for me is to open Glass on my iPad and start to glance at photos and members. Each time, my goal is to subscribe to three members with photos that I like. Today, unexpectedly, I stumbled on the announcement of the upcoming Series feature. I can’t waitt for that one. Pixelfed isn’t really good at this, posting a bunch of related photos in one post.
